I'd love to hear Ed wail for a while like he does on the right channel at the end of Me Wise Magic. Maybe a drum/guitar duo, too. We don't have to hear Eruption every time. Mike, I sort of agree with you. I consider myself an absolute Van Halen fanatic and always look forward to seeing them live (before they added the second Toronto date on to their Balance tour, I was seriously considering missing my own wedding reception - luckily my wife understands what it means to be a VH fan)! With that said, while I've never come away disappointed I find that the shows hit a bit of a lull whenever the bass / drum / guitar solo bits come up. I know the solos probably serve a practical purpose (that being to give whoever is singing a chance to rest their voice), but I think each band member gets to show off their chops best within the context of the songs. Basically, I think they should drop all the solo spots and make space to squeeze about 3 more songs into the set. Ed has mentioned the idea himself in a few interviews, but said the other band members wouldn't let him do it. Since I doubt they will drop the solo spots, I do like Mike's idea of Ed doing something totally unexpected with his solo. Despite being very simple to play, Ed's preview of "316" during his solo on the 5150 tour was so un-Ed that it ended up being the best part of the solo (personal opinion). Anyone else agree with dropping the solos? I'm sure most of you disagree ... Lastly, after being on the list for about a month now, I have figured out most of the acronyms except for ROTFLMAO!!! Am I totally naive or what? List price is the same for both : $1699.00 This is straight from my invoice, and NO ONE is discounting them a penny. On the other hand, you can get an Axis with case out the door for $1200.00.
