While I agree that the sig has more collectible value, the question is would you rather spend $3K (going price for a EVH w/ an AAA top) or $1,200? (AXIS) As for the Wolfgang, my experience was the opposite from yours. There was NO flame or quilt and the finish was uneven, although the guitar was set up acceptably. It just goes to show how important it is for players to PLAY each guitar in question, as opposed to going on reputation or a demo model. Heck, you think your Wolf is nice, you should've played Ed's guitar that I demoed for industry folks at the Dallas guitar show last spring. That was unbelievable! :) Ron Dodson - ---------- From: owner-vanhalen@lists.fdt.net on behalf of David King I saw your post on the mailing list about the guitars. I have an Earnie Ball Music Man, amber, and a new wolgang guitar, amber. I also have played the new axis, and one thing I can tell you that I rate the axis dead last. It has the thinnest sound out of all three. The wolfgang is the best in my opinion, I think it has the most sustain, which I attribute to them using machine screws for the neck body joint. I can tell you one thing the axis wont be worth anything and that's guarenteed. It is not Eddie's guitar, and wonth be valuable at anytime. I also like the features on the wolfgang the best. It has the widest neck out of the three, it has a tone knob, and a contoured maple top. The quilted maple on the wolgang is unreal. It is by far the best made guitar out of the three. For sound the Music man and wolfgang have similar tones, even though they are different pickups they have lots of power but not a lot of distortion. It makes you use your amp and gear for the distortion. Nice fat tone, without that raspiness. Again I think the wolfgang sings a little more because of the neck mode. The axis sounded real thin, I didnt like the tone at all, I dont know why.
