The Metallica show here in Memphis rocked nicely thanks for asking. The guys fell from the rigging...stretcher and all...the guy ran around onstage flaming...it was well done. I talked to Larz on the radio for around 12 minutes...he was sick...snot everywhere...but we had fun with the interview. Someone gave me a copy of the Kill Em All picture disc from Megaforce records....waaaaay cool and long since out of print. YES it is in mint condition. HERE's the coolest part of the night. I'm backstage with Corrosion Of Conformity...having a libation on the record company's budget. COC was listening to VH II....they all miss Dave and are disappointed in the recent happenings with the band. I thought that that was waay cool....Woody was playing air guitar to "outta love again"...and the whole band stoped and jammed with DOA.... Just goes to show...Van Halen HAD the power to stop a room full of musicians, record people and radio geeks from whatever it is that they were doing and we just listened.... Very cool set-up, I was just wondering exactly what the hell it was he was using as far as his speakers, that's all. Steve Lukather was the one with the Rivira speaker cabinets. He had them miked just like Eddie. Luke has his own signature Rivira head and speaker cabinets just like Eddie with Peavey. So those were his. Cheaper, more reliable, and more verstile. You have to run the Marshalls the right way to get Eddie's sound, like with a power brake, but even then it's not the same. No effect loop...go with the 5150, you will not be disappointed. Steve Gill ------------------------------ From: sgill72@ix.netcom.com (Steve Gill) Date: Sun, 2 Feb 1997 13:44:55 -0800 Subject: Roselle Music and Eddie's amp/guitars Roselle Music is a bunch of fookin' jerks. All they want to do is make money, like the rest of us yes, but this is usually at Eddie expense. The just wanted him to sign the guiatrs and amps to make some easy money, trust me. They won't sell any Wolfgangs for under retail. The store I go to usually will give a standard 30% off retail. Very cool store. Roselle also has an ivory Wolfgang serial #9000010 that they are selling for $4000. They claim it's rare, other than the serial number, what's so rare. The have a black one too, but that is going just for retail $1800. Now, aren't the solid colored Wolf's supposed to be less than translucent ones? Roselle Music sucks. Anyway, back to the ivory Wolf, they told me when they first had it that it was a Peavey reps guitar. So...now I guess it's still the reps guitar and he/she is selling it for $4000. Whafook? That's not right, now Peavey reps are cashing in on Eddie. It's a bunch of shit. All we want are some Wolfgangs at a good price to play. Is that so much to ask, damn it. I wish he was still with Musicman. Yeah, you still had to wait for the guitar, but everything was upfront, and cheaper! Not that I mind at all - I mean, Beautiful Girls and MWM together makes my jaw drop. I get the feeling that the Warner machine might be upping the airplay in general in addition to mixing old and new not just to keep BOV1 sales moving, but to get VH back in the minds of people since Mach III is rapidly approaching. As to the bonus tracks I'm not sure abut their > origing or validity but it definately sounds authentic. I have two versions of this show. I have the original bootleg album which is unedited and has all of Dave's raps. I also have the CD, "Dressed To Kill" which looses Dave's between song raps. The first two bonus tracks on the CD are from the demo tape and the second two are live from an early 1977 show. The sound quality on both CD and album are great (A-) except for the bonus tracks which are significantly poorer sounding. The CD was mastered from an album and you can occasionally hear the ticks and pops. Also, The CD does not have individual track indexing which means if you wanna hear "Eruption" you have to manually track through the 8 previous songs to get to it. One more thing, the "matrix number" seen on the inside ring of the face on the CD is scratched off with what looks like a pen grinder! Every copy of this CD I've seen has this feature so someone must have had to sit and gouge out the serial number on this CD one by one!
