Unfortunately I saw them before the break too. They only have 2-3 good starters in the rotation. I am personally waiting for the phone call to go jump in the bullpen. Unless they stop talking about trading 2 of our best guys, make raffi happy, bring on two starting pitchers, develop some sort of farm league and bring back Davey Johnson there is just no hope. I just don't think they have the pitching to get them where they need to be. MAYBE if Key gets healthy again and someone else finds a groove, they can catch Boston. It's going to be a long and difficult road. Right now they are winning with the bats. Correct me if I am wrong, but they tried to win with the bats two years ago (or was that three?). Hello, During the "Balance" tour, which is the first time I ever saw Van Halen, I noticed Alex wearing a neck brace. I couldn't figure it out. But when I saw him on this tour wearing it again, I figured there's a reason for it. Is it the Angus Young syndrome? Does he wear it to restrict the movement of his neck? Or is there something I'm missing. - Jeff PS My pictures from the Portland show should be online later today. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Jul 1998 10:07:54 -0700 From: bradman@van-halen.com Subject: Re: First Van Halen album question.... And you have to buy the beer at the first playoff game! See, I spoke to some people from Boston last week when they played here. We worked out a deal...they catch the Yanks and we take the wildcard. Judeanne > -->JN<-- > IRC Nick TopJimmy ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Jul 1998 13:21:24 -0400 From: Ellen Lloyd Subject: IMPORTANT CONVENTION UPDATE!! There are some changes in our Convention plans. These just came up within the last 2 weeks, and the Con Committee has been wracking their collective brains trying to re-think everything. Our main goal is to make this VHML Con III the best it can be for everyone! We will not be having a VH Tribute Band this year. Unfortunately, things didn't work out with "Eruption"...and "5150" was trying to help us out again, but due to outside circumstances, they won't be able to make it. And...no tribute band means... no shuttle bus. Since we have no tribute band...we now have some additional funds available. We want to use these funds to provide lunch for everyone at the Convention. We're working out the details with the hotel now and will post more info as it becomes available. We are also planning on having a Happy Hour at the hotel for everyone on Friday night, July 31. This will be a Cash Bar...but we will provide everyone with finger foods/cheese/crackers, etc for everyone to snack on. Saturday, August 1...We are re-thinking the schedule of events for the actual Convention day. More info will be posted soon, but we're thinking of splitting up the day with a break for everyone in the late afternoon/early evening. During that time we can go to dinner, relax, gamble, whatever. When we regroup later, we will present for everyone's listening pleasure the Official VHML Tribute Band! ;) Yes...a bunch of us who will be playing during the regular "loose" open jam session during the day, will be playing it *for real* in the evening. We've got Dave Russell on vocals and we should all be nice and tight after jamming together all day. A regular set list will be worked out for this. More specific details will be coming soon. The Committee is still gathering information and making decisions. We truly want everyone who attends to have a great time. It's unfortunate that the tribute band fell thru...but then again, a VHML Convention is all about the people that make the VHML what it is. :) A wonderful, yet dysfunctional, place to hang out!!! I look forward to meeting everyone in Vegas in 2 weeks!!! Ellen Lloyd Chairman CON '98 ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Jul 1998 13:25:35 EDT From: DTJGLAZE@aol.com Subject: Re: Re: PPV?
