You DID se this on MTV back in '86, right?!?! The only part I remember is the version that they play a short version of it backstage clowning around before they went onstage. If it's on that show it slipped my mind as I haven't watched it in several years. You and your > second-rate "word-smithing" skills don't faze me a bit. Next. I guess you couldn't follow it, Dave. We aren't *ever* going to find a common ground. From what I've been able to tell from your posts, you aren't the kind of person I'd ever want to have a personal relationship with. Why argue about it? > Must have hit a nerve on that one since you spent so much time and space > refuting it. I can read you like a book, Rex. The "nerve" you hit, you fucking prick, was talking about my *mother*. Now then, having said there's nothing worth getting killed over, I'll tell you right now that I'll take any more comments about my *mother* more personally than you have a fucking clue how to deal with. See that line? You're stepping over it. You can drop that entire line of debate or you can keep seeing what buttons you know how to push. I love my mother and I won't read shit some little putz like you has to say about my relationship with her. > You don't like *anyone*, Rex. I like a *lot* of people, Dave. I don't happen to like *you*. That doesn't mean I don't like "anyone". There are a number of people right here on the VHML I trust and respect. I doubt you'll ever make that list, though. ;-) > I'm deeply, deeply moved by your sensitivity and compassion... You don't know how to be deeply moved, Dave. That much is obvious. > Your weapon has never been physical violence, Rex. It's always > been words. You were the kid no one could stand to be around, > because your teasing always went TOO far. I *never* taunted other kids for their shortcomings. In my second-grade report card my teacher wrote in the margin "Robbie has a great empathy for the underdog". Of course, I had no fucking clue what that meant at the time. ;-) I had a lot of friends growing up, Dave, and still have some of them to this day. > Of course you got beat up. That's right, Dave. There are mean-spirited assholes like you in every school in America. > Why do I never see you comment on it here, then? All we get to see is you > seemingly attacking everybody you've ever met on the list... I've met a LOT of people from the list, Dave. The vast majority of them have been great people. I'm hooking up with Florida locals John Greenfield, Brian Costanza and Jill Barrone in Atlanta this week. Nicer people you'd be hard-pressed to find. Then there's Ron Piotrowski, who recently helped me track down a Wolfgang strap and has never, as far as I can tell, been anything but truthful and helpful with anyone he's ever dealt with on the list. There's MULLY, who types a lot meaner than he talks and is welcoming me into his home in Japan shortly. There's the inimitable John Adams, without whom there would be no issue #1 of "Ha". There's Lance Quest who made the Gumby with the cool striped guitar that looks over everything I do in here every day. There's Thomas Bell, who's as rock 'n roll as anyone you'll find on this list and as nice a guy as you'd ever want to sit down and have a drink with. There's Bonnie Richardson, who has all the sarcastic wit of someone you'd probably hate, but a sincerity and charm that's impossible to ignore. There's Chris O'Neill who was nothing but pleasant and helpful in the month I was in New Zealand and Australia. And Dale Shera, who started helping me track down the original Van Halen Warner Bros. demos long before I'd ever hung out with him. There's Jason Fulton, who I probably scared away completely with the suck and fuck fest that Livestock became last year. ;-) There's Grant Fisher, who's most recently been helping one of those childhood friends of mine with a Van Halen project that seems to be turning out great. There's Mike Heasley, who turned out to be NOTHING like what I'd always pictured when I actually met him. There's Pat Kenny, Paul Stickland, Paul Kendall...fuck, there are dozens of great people here, man. I'm skipping over a ton of them and I know it...I'll implicate you all later, ok? You ONLY seem to give a shit about the negative things, Dave. There have been TONS of positive things. > > I'm frequently disgusted by people who attach > > themselves to "important" members of the VHML. > > Your superior grasp of psychology should have clued you in to the > fact that it is a present in almost any group dynamic. Whatever, man... > It's my knowing gauge of someone who thinks he can be intimidating > if he is loud enough You listening to my posts through a PC speaker? > and personal enough. Man, you don't even know. And it's not to be intimidating, Dave. I'm just saying what I feel. I don't think much of her and a lot of people know the reasons why. You trying to get a Jorie-blowjob? Got All Access passes to the tour? > You don't have a clue, do you? We had ourselves a fun little > debate about WWII going. You were the first one to make a statement like the following: > > "Not at all, I just find you repulsive and I think it's interesting that > someone with so little actual moral character is as concerned > with issues of heroism and courage as you seem to be." That should have been your first clue that I was tired of reading what Jorie had to say. ;-) > I don't want to see what's in your world, "brother." Any world > that encourages your reprehensible treatment of others is a place > I purposely will never venture. Good. Get out and stay out. GREAT show. Beautiful night, crowd was amped, band was amped. Pretty standard set list, added I'm The One, dropped YTD and Romeo. I'm trying to remember the rest..... Sound check included a little Led Zep - Whole Lotta Love - when Ed and Al were jamming. Awesome!! Did most of Without You and teasers of old songs. I hate when they do that! KWS did at LEAST a 20-30 minute check. Dunno why but it sounded great anyway. Finally met Top Jimmy. He couldn't have been nicer. Whoops - I'll probably get flamed for that :-) Ed's solo - he ran up and did a little roll on Al's kit right in the middle of a riff. Way cool!! Another cool part was when he was doing the extended feedback up against his cabinets. He'd puff on a cigarette while looking to the sky while his guitar was wailing; kinda like "I'll just hang out while I get these amazing feedback tones..." Too funny. Crowd was great. The band loved it. Good seeing Jay, Neal, Marie and kids, Jimmy and Heather. Good meeting Chuck/CW/Ease! That's all I can think of right now. Off to bed. - -Gene ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Jul 1998 01:10:55 -0400 From: duri@ptd.net Subject: Addicted to Love >Date: Tue, 28 Jul 1998 20:31:12 -0700 >From: Thomas Bell >Subject: Re: VH Cover Songs > >VOODOO wrote: >> >> I have the addicted to Love thing they did for the Live Without a Net video >> that got scrapped.
