Although the clones would possess the same genetic makeup as the original from which they were made, the talents of the original would not be transferred over because human behavior is largely dependent on learning, experience, and location. Dan, this was a very serious response to a very lighthearted post! ;) Doubtless, if we could afford to clone the members of VH, we could also afford to create a perfect simulation of the social, scientific, mental, moral, musical, and otherwise environment in which those fine musicians were nurtured, you know, in some bubble dome in Southern California. From Nijmegen to Pasadena...hmmm...this could get expensive, though, because we'd have to simulate Chicago for Mike, as well as Fontana, CA for Sammy, and Gary's Massachusetts birthplace... Actually, part of the Rifkin book is about the notion that the current of thought in the scientific community is swinging back somewhat toward the idea of nature over nurture, rather than the opposite--a thought which I don't find appealing, but apparently that's what's going on.
